Whether we love celebrations or not, there are some dates in the calendar that invite us to indulge ourselves. Valentine’s day can, in this sense, be the perfect excuse to make something special for our partner or for them to make it for us. Why not?

If we stop to think about how we can surprise our special person a good option is to make a nice breakfast at home for Valentine’s day. As well as it being much easier to focus on breakfast than choosing a lunch or evening meal, we can also make the most of it to celebrate the start of a special day and wake up in a good mood.

The only thing we have to do is get to work and take advantage of this special day to experience the most romantic time.

Romantic breakfast in bed: Valentine’s idea

Who hasn’t ever imagined waking up and finding a delicious breakfast in bed? Although it’s the typical idea of all time, this simple detail continues to be one of the most successful, precisely because of its surprise effect.

For this moment, it makes a difference whether we decide to do it mid-week when we are in a rush to go to work, or at the weekend. The first option, although it is faster, gives us an injection of energy that can last all day. But, if we prefer to enjoy it peacefully, it’s best to choose to do the surprise on Saturday or Sunday. The person preparing it will have more time to do it, and the one receiving it will be able to enjoy it without rushing.

Once a time has been decided, it's time to plan the menu. Everything should be freshly made, there should be variety (coffee, fresh-cut fruit, something savoury, something sweet...), and which includes something truly special for the recipient, some indulgence.

And finally, staging it. It’s ideal to have a tray to put the whole breakfast on (even better if it has legs). The presentation has to be taken care of like that of a 5-star hotel and it must be full of details: pretty dishes, neat food, colourful tableware and, if we still want more, accompany it all with a flower and a beautiful message.
