Names for male dogs

When a dog becomes part of the home, one of the first important decisions to make is to choose their name. Although this is sometimes a straightforward decision, it can often be a real headache, particularly when considering that a dog’s name is fundamental while it is learning. Once the dog has learned his name, he will be able to acknowledge it and obey you. There are all kinds of names and, sometimes, it is difficult to decide on one. We provide you with some advice for giving your male dog a name and offer you some ideas so that you can find the perfect name for your dog.

In order not to confuse the dog, it is important that the name is short and that it cannot be confused with any other words we use to give an order or with the name of another family member.  Focus on the dog’s character and features when deciding. But if this doesn’t help, you can always choose an original name for your pet. If you avoid commonly-used names, such as Kira, Toby or Rex it will make it easier for him to recognise when you are calling him. For inspiration, you could think about your favourite films, series or books, as well as mythological characters or rock stars. There is an infinite number of original names that you could give to your male dog.
