For their collaboration in this article, Juan Dávila and Consum have donated 500€ to Juegaterapia.

Juan Dávila (1978, Madrid) is one of the most prominent comedic talents of the moment. Actor, comedian and showman, he has won over audiences with his boundless charisma, his energy on stage and a style that blends improv, irony and relatability. He shot to fame with his show La capital del pecado with which he sold out in multiple theatres across the country. He has also appeared in programmes, such as Paramount Comedy and Comedy Central, as well as in fictional series like Acacias 38, Las chicas del cable and El incidente. In addition to his success on social media and digital platforms, Dávila has managed to connect with several generations thanks to his sharp, unfiltered look at everyday life.

Here are his ‘top five’:

OLIVES

Olives are the perfect aperitif snack. Moreover, they contain healthy fats, which is what you tell yourself to justify having devoured half a tin without even realising. Opening a jar of olives is an experience in itself and brings back memories of all those moments spent with friends on any terrace. A small pleasure that I never give up.

MUSSELS

Mussels are the people’s seafood: a humble shellfish packed with protein and, to top it off, cheap! They also contain vitamins and minerals. One of those ingredients that can’t be missing in my weekly shopping.

ANCHOVIES

They have omega 3, but above all, they have attitude and character. For example, they’re perfect for adding some zest to a slice of toast. Bread, olive oil and anchovies—you don’t need much more to be happy. It’s that simple and effective. Anchovies also help the heart and have anti-inflammatory effects. And that’s not all, because they go very well with a wide range of dishes, such as pasta, salads or even omelettes.

SALMON

Rich in omega-3 and good for cholesterol, salmon is a fish that has become more and more fashionable. It would be that trendy fish that appears on magazine covers—striking and perfect, for those who are willing to splash out a little more on their supermarket shopping. It’s also a versatile fish that can be prepared in a jiffy and can be served with pasta, rice or vegetables.

BROWN RICE

Brown rice is a staple that never fails. An uncomplicated source of energy. Yes, okay, it takes a bit longer to cook, but it’s perfect for those days when you want to eat healthily without spending three hours in the kitchen. I think it’s the perfect ingredient for those who are in a hurry but don’t want to neglect their health. It goes well with everything, such as vegetables, lentils, meat... and with a good sauce, it’s unbeatable.
