Àlex Blanquer (Xeraco, 1992) is one of the best-known faces of À Punt, the Valencian regional media outlet. A graduate in Journalism from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, she began appearing on Valencian television in the programme À Punt Directe in 2018. After working on other shows on the channel, such as Duel de veus, she joined the team of Tiempo al Tiempo on Cuatro alongside the well-known meteorologist Mario Picazo. She has now returned to Valencian television and is hosting the afternoon magazine show En Directe.
Here are her ‘top 5’:
SLICED CHEESE
There’s nothing I love more than being well attended to, receiving advice, and even being given a taste of a cheese I’ve never tried before. Cheese also goes with so many foods and is incredibly versatile, even as a snack or appetizer.
SPICES
When I cook, I tend to season the food with lots of spices. I love giving it an extra kick. Besides spices, I enjoy adding salt to my food, but not just any salt—only high-quality, freshly ground salt.
FRUIT
I can’t imagine my diet without fruit. I eat a lot of it, and in many varieties, and I try to make sure it's locally sourced and in season to get the most out of it. The best part is finding quality in all of them.
EGGS
Another essential in my basket are free-range eggs, which I use for making omelettes, accompanying my dishes, my salads, and even the occasional dessert. Eggs are one of those key ingredients that should always be in the fridge – they’re so useful!
WHOLEMEAL FLOUR
I always have a packet for making my homemade pizzas or a classic: coca en llanda. It’s customary to make the coca with apple or pumpkin, depending on the season. I love it for breakfast or as an afternoon snack – long live coca en llanda!
