Conchita Martinez began playing tennis at the age of 9. Since she first held a racket, success followed success, thanks to her talent and love for the sport. During her career, she won a Wimbledon Championship and was runner-up in two Grand Slams, the Australian Open and Roland Garros. She also won three medals in three different Olympic Games. Today, Conchita Martínez is the national tennis coach for Spain, in both male and female categories.

Here are her Top 5:

QUINOA

Although it has become very fashionable now, quinoa has been present in my kitchen for many years. I usually eat it cooked with vegetables, or cold with salads. It is so versatile that I eat it both in summer and in winter. Also, I really like the unique touch it gives to any dish.

BROCCOLI

This vegetable is one of my favourites, because besides going with many of my recipes, it is one of the healthiest and richest foods we can prepare, either simply boiled or with other ingredients. In salads, in pasta, as an accompaniment to meat... I try to include it in many of my meals.

NUTS

I try to follow the recommendation of eating nuts every day, not only because they are healthy, but also because I love them. With their Omega-3 content, they help to lower cholesterol levels, keep my heart healthy and keep me in good humour. In addition, they give a unique touch to my yoghurts and salads, and once you start to eat them, you can’t stop!

CHICKEN

An ideal protein source for the muscles, I also choose it because of its low fat content, so I enjoy it in many healthy and rich recipes. To prepare it roasted in the oven, with a tasty garnish, is one of my favourite options for dinners and, in addition, it always turns out well!

MELON

I am passionate about fruits, I love them at any time of the day or night, and I always try to select whatever’s in season, but melon is a weakness... and since it is readily available in winter too, it has become an essential in my kitchen. Even when I'm travelling or in a tournament I try to get some.
